The Revenant

'The Revenant' is a Hollywood movie directed by Alejandro Inarrittu. Movie is about a mountain man's revenge on his fellow companion who killed his son. This movie had won three Oscar Awards for the year 2016 for the categories of best Actor, best Director and best Cinematography. After watching the

movie, we can find that the whole scene was set in extreme cold climate where whole crew members had to deal with harsh climatic conditions. And this hardwork of many artists have given us a movie which is one of the best production in the recent film history.

Main cast of the movie is Leonardo DiCaprio who played the role of Hugh Glass. Hugh was a mountain man who was assigned the role of leading a team for finding animal fur for trading. While in their expedition, Hugh was met with a bear attack. And his fellow teammates decides to abandon him from their further journey and one of them killed his son infront of him. Hugh somehow survived with help of some other people and with his own skills. He decides to revenge one of his mate who killed his son. Basic theme of the movie is this revenge, which he was doing for his beloved. Movie was also showing the history of men, who was killing animals and destroying our own nature for his selfish needs. Here we can see the powerful capturing and destroying those who are less powerful or inferior to them. 

Main attraction of the movie is certainly the Acting by DiCaprio and the Cinematography of Immanuel Lubezki. DiCaprio has used 'Method Acting' technique brilliantly in the movie. As he was left to act in

the extreme harsh situations, he had got all the emotions in his acting in its true natural way. Lubezki was able to capture those wonderful moments without loosing any of its perfection. We can see good use of telephoto lens to capture closeup emotions of DiCaprio in most part of the movie. Also there was a good use of wide angle lenses in the movie, wherever depth was needed for the scene. Lubezki was able to accomplish what director wants even though he was working in extreme hard situation.

Eventhough movie was less with dialogues, it speaks more through its visuals. Movie is showing us the history of human who is killing animals, destroying forest and also killing his own breed to fulfill his greediness. This movie has showcased best in every aspects of its making process. The movie ends

showing Hugh fulfilling his revenge. And it has left us with question whether he was happy after fulfilling his desire to kill the person who killed his son? Eventhough the movie is based on the history, it's theme is still relevant in the present.
